Vocational Education

Too often, a basic formal
education is not enough to
secure employment. Students
who wish to continue in a
university find they lack the skills needed for admission or success. Those not attending university are often left without marketable skills.

Vocational training provides the skills that individuals can immediately put into action to build their lives and, in turn, their community. Vocational education and training play a key role in providing individuals with skills more relevant to the evolving needs of the economy and raising people out of poverty.

Our vocational training program empowers women and men to access new, relevant skills for real economic opportunity.

What skills?

From our current office in Les Cayes, we are able to offer business and computer skills training and take our public health training to the homes of our participants.

We would like to grow our programs systematically, according to the needs expressed by the community we work in, for example:

• Language learning 
  
• Mechanic skills
  
• Artisan craft skills
  
• Agricultural skills
  
• Sustainable building practices

What is needed?

MPM Haiti consults with the community to know where next to go.  Currently, there is no public library in the region. We dream of building resources such as a library for language learning, computer skills, and access to print materials.
